Dr. Nicole T. Hemkes is a family medicine physician at Advocate MD in Middleton. Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, she earned a biology degree with a minor in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with distinction in 2002. She then went on to medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa, finishing in 2006. She completed her family medicine residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 2009.
For her first decade in practice, Hemkes worked across a wide range of settings, from emergency departments and hospital wards to traditional outpatient family medicine clinics. That range took her from inner-city Chicago to rural Alaska before she found direct primary care. She believes the model empowers both physician and patient. She treats every patient like a member of her own family, convinced that everyone deserves that kind of advocate.
