Frances Velez, MD

Dr. Frances Velez is a board-certified family medicine physician at Alpine Whole Health - Family and Integrative Medicine in Silverthorne. Originally from Puerto Rico and the only physician in her immediate family, she grew up drawn to biology, psychology, and health.

She earned her medical degree in 2009, trained in internal medicine in Queens, and completed her family medicine residency in Philadelphia, where she also studied nutrition and health coaching. After working at a Federally Qualified Health Center and as a hospitalist in Austin, a yoga teacher training in Indonesia changed how she wanted to practice medicine. She moved to Summit County in 2018, later completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine, and now brings a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to urgent care and family medicine.

She spends time with her two children and husband, along with yoga and weight training.
