Carly Brown, MD

Carly Brown founded Ashewell Medical Group in Asheville, NC, in 2016, building it from the ground up in the River Arts District.

Since then Brown has focused as much on the community around the practice as the practice itself. In 2019 she and Ashewell led a group of local practices in an effort that paid off two million dollars of medical debt for residents of North and South Carolina. In 2020 she started Masks of Love, a grassroots effort that brought people together to sew and distribute masks during the pandemic. That work earned her a Dogwood Award from the state attorney general, and in 2018 the Asheville Chamber of Commerce named her Small Business Leader of the Year. More recently she has turned her attention to making mental health care more accessible and affordable for patients.

Brown can usually be found at the farmer's market with her three kids in tow, or at home cooking and spending time with family.
