Louise Butler, DO

Louise Butler is a family medicine physician at Avalon Primary Care in Lancaster. She grew up in Southern California just outside San Diego before heading to Maine at twenty, where she finished college and medical school.

She arrived in Lancaster in July of 1994 to start her Family Practice residency, and five months in she met the man she would marry a year and a half later. After residency the couple spent four years in North Carolina and nearly four more in Western Maryland before homesickness brought them back to Lancaster, where Butler has practiced since 2001.

Her approach comes from a simple belief that patients will tell you the diagnosis and the right treatment if you actually take the time to listen, something she found insurance companies and hospital systems rarely make room for. Direct Primary Care gave her a way to practice medicine the way she had always pictured it, treating people as people rather than numbers or policies.
