Maryal Concepcion, MD

Dr. Maryal Concepcion is a board-certified rural family physician at Big Trees MD in Arnold. She has cared for patients in Northern California since 2012 and in Calaveras County since 2015, building a practice rooted in community-focused medicine.

Her patients span every age, from infants and expectant mothers to children and adults, and her care includes in-office procedures alongside routine visits. After years working as an employed physician, she chose to reclaim medical decision-making, prioritizing direct doctor-patient relationships over the constraints of insurance-driven care.

Since 2020, Dr. Concepcion has hosted My DPC Story, a podcast that highlights physicians practicing under the Direct Primary Care model. She has become a national advocate for independent practice, speaking on Capitol Hill and at conferences on healthcare policy, and she is equally devoted to mentoring the next generation of medicine, guiding pre-med students, medical students, residents, and fellow physicians along the way.
