Melissa Bloom, MD

Dr. Melissa Bloom has over 15 years of post-residency experience practicing medicine. She was born and raised in Hawaii. Her family roots in Hawaii go back 5 generations. Growing up in Aina Haina on Oahu, she graduated from Punahou School and then went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington. She attended the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii where she graduated with her MD in 2001. She then went on to complete her residency in Family Medicine in 2004 at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona and earned her Board Certification from the American Board of Family Medicine shortly thereafter. Dr. Bloom began practicing in Arizona gaining experience in Family Medicine and Occupational Medicine before deciding to return home to Hawaii in 2005. Since then, she has worked as a Family Practice Physician throughout Oahu, including at two of Hawaii's more prominent medical organizations, Queen's Health Care Centers and Kaiser Permanente Medical Group. She has a passion for working with people with disabilities. She co-founded the Sunny Buddies Program which helps individuals with intellectual disabilities. She served as Clinical Faculty at John A. Burns School of Medicine where, partnering with Easter Seals of Hawaii, she supervised medical students who participated in the Sunny Buddies Program as a part of the Community Health Curriculum. In her leisure time, Dr. Bloom enjoys spending quality time at home on the North Shore with her husband and their daughter and visiting her family in Honolulu. She actively enjoys running, yoga, pilates, and beach activities.
