Russell Homan, MD

Dr. Russell Homan is the founder of Canopy Pediatrics in Tallahassee, a monthly-membership practice he started so families could build the kind of long-term relationships with their providers that have grown rare in an insurance-driven system. He loves spending time with patients and getting to know the families behind them, and that shows in how the practice is built.

Raised just outside Fort Worth, Homan headed east for college, earning his undergraduate degree at Princeton before going on to medical school at Columbia University. It was at Princeton that he met a Floridian who would become his wife, and the two later settled in her home state, where he completed his pediatric residency at the University of Florida.

His wife teaches at FSU, and together they're raising three teenage boys. When he gets a break, Homan is usually fishing, mountain biking, or out on the pickleball court, often with two fluffy dogs, Olive and Skipper, who sometimes tag along to the office.
