Dr. Raza Aftab is a board-certified internal medicine physician at Chicago Direct Primary Care in Chicago. He trained at Punjab Medical College on a full scholarship, then immigrated to the United States in 2016 for residency at Ascension Health Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, where he met his wife, a fellow dermatologist, while immersed in the program's wellness activities.
As a hospitalist at the University of Chicago in Hyde Park, he cared for patients facing serious chronic illness, and the work turned his focus toward prevention, sharpened further when his own father survived a heart attack and triple bypass surgery. That is how the idea for Chicago Direct Primary Care took shape. He later earned a second board certification in Obesity Medicine, and after tearing his ACL, grew interested in how muscle mass and mobility support healthy aging.
A lakefront walker who calls his strolls "wellness loops," Aftab enjoys trying new recipes, exploring healthy restaurants with his wife, reading, the gym, and traveling.
