David Gunn, MD, MFA

David Gunn practices general and preventive medicine at Conejo Valley Direct Primary Care in Westlake Village, California. After ten years of watching a health system shortchange patients, he opened his own practice built on a simpler idea, one doctor, one patient, one room. That structure gives patients direct access to him and a level of privacy and trust that a large system cannot match.

His focus spans general medicine, preventative cardiology, what he calls Medicine 3.0, and recovery from substance and alcohol use, and he sees patients across every age group, from children and teens to adults of any gender.

Before opening the practice, Gunn was an associate professor of medicine at UCLA, where he taught medical students the physical exam, how to take a thorough history, and how to think critically about what they observed. He also directed the third year clinical rotation in family medicine and built a fourth year advanced clinical elective.
