Deborah Sutcliffe, MD

Dr. Deborah Sutcliffe knew from a young age that she wanted to take care of people and wanted a hometown. As an Army brat, she moved every year or two growing up.After earning her medical degree, she settled in Red Bluff and joined Red Bluff Medical Center in September 1993. She grew up all over the United States and lived overseas—elementary school in Germany, high school in the Philippines.After five years, her partners closed the practice while she was on maternity leave. She chose to open her own solo practice, which allowed her to provide personalized attention to patients for almost 18 years.Government and insurance companies increasingly interfered with her ability to practice medicine the way she believed it should be done—one patient at a time, over time. She experienced burnout from the system and lost the joy of caring for her neighbors and friends.She reinvented her practice again, ditching insurance companies and joining the Direct Primary Care (DPC) movement. She now works directly for patients, providing superior care, enhanced access, and TIME with the doctor.
