Deborah Sutcliffe, MD

Deborah Sutcliffe, MD practices at Deborah Sutcliffe, MD in Red Bluff. As an Army brat she moved every year or two growing up, with elementary school in Germany and high school in the Philippines, and that constant moving left her wanting a hometown of her own.

After earning her medical degree she settled in Red Bluff and joined Red Bluff Medical Center in 1993. Five years in, her partners closed the practice while she was on maternity leave, so she opened her own solo practice and ran it for almost 18 years, giving patients more personal attention along the way.

Over time, government rules and insurance requirements made it harder to practice medicine the way she believed it should be done, one patient at a time, and she felt the burnout that comes with losing the joy of caring for neighbors and friends. That led her to reinvent her practice once more, leaving insurance behind to join the Direct Primary Care movement, where she now works directly for her patients with more access and more time.
