Jenny Powell, MD

Jenny Powell is a physician at Direct Primary Care Clinics in Osage Beach.

A native of central Illinois, she married her high school sweetheart after a year of college and spent years working various jobs, teaching Sunday school, and raising her children before deciding at 30 to become a physician. She earned a microbiology degree from the University of Illinois, attended medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, and trained in family practice at Southern Illinois University in Decatur, graduating at 41. Four years of practice in Dewitt County, Illinois followed.

In 2006, she and her husband moved to the Ozarks so he could raise a growing herd of meat goats, and she joined a clinic in Lebanon, Missouri. Direct primary care appealed to her later on because it meant fewer outside parties standing between her and the patients she treats.
