Helen Tackitt, DNP

Helen Tackitt is a nurse practitioner at Direct Primary Care Mebane in Mebane, certified as a Functional and Nutrition Medicine Practitioner through the American Academy of Functional Health. She brings more than fifteen years of experience caring for patients across a range of practice settings.

Before opening her own practice, Helen held leadership roles at two major health systems. At the Cleveland Clinic she directed the nurse practitioners and physician assistants in the Taussig Cancer Center, and she later directed clinical practice and education for the Duke Cancer Network. Those years sparked a lasting interest in survivorship primary care, which looks at the specific needs of cancer survivors and keeps watch on the risks tied to their earlier treatment.

Opening a practice of her own had long been a goal, one built around giving patients the time a rushed clinic schedule never allows. Helen believes a genuine, understanding relationship between patient and provider is essential to good care, and that belief guides how she practices today.
