I fell in love with outpatient medicine when I did home visits for geriatric patient's in Tucson for a few years. I stopped this two years ago due to being very busy with my inpatient responsibilities and growing in a leadership path. My gripe with outpatient primary care is that I could never spend enough time with our patient's, pay my overhead and staff, and to where I felt the patient was confident I addressed their concerns. This is where Direct Primary Care fits in, I feel I can focus on a much smaller population the way I feel is appropriate and dedicate the appropriate amount of time in addressing all my patient's concerns. I always have had a special place for home visits, and it is why I make this a center piece of my Direct Primary Care practice. Modern medicine, in a traditional setting, and treating patient's like family.
