Alon Sitzer, MD

Alon Sitzer practices direct primary care at Empowerment DPC in Newburyport, part of the FreedomDOC network. He built the practice around the idea that health is not something a doctor can hand a patient, but a process each person has to take an active role in.

He works to inspire and support patients as they become proactive about their own health, encouraging self-compassion and kindness along the way. Building health, in his view, comes down to sustained effort on nutrition, activity, rest, and the other everyday elements that shape wellbeing, not just genetics, though he still turns to medication when it's called for.

Just as most people put real effort into earning a living, he believes health takes that same kind of sustained attention, and he sees his role as helping patients through that process.
