About Yvonne Joy

Yvonne Joy is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with more than 30 years of healthcare experience, seeing patients at Freedom Primary Care in New Britain. She holds a doctorate in nursing and is also an advanced certified hospice and palliative nurse.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, Yvonne earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Syracuse University and commissioned through Air Force ROTC. She served at bases in Ohio and Oklahoma, working in labor and delivery, maternity care and primary care, before completing a Master of Science in Nursing at Saint Louis University and later teaching as adjunct faculty in Connecticut.

The third of four children, Yvonne grew up moving often with her Air Force family. She and her husband Michael went on to raise three children of their own, twin boys and a girl.
