I am Dr. Jason Wesley, M.D. I have been board-certified in Family Medicine since 2001. I received my medical degree from University of Oklahoma School of Medicine and attended internship and residency at Good Samaritan Family Practice Residency in Phoenix, AZ.
I had the good fortune to spend my first two years after residency as the Medical Director of Grand Canyon Clinic on the south rim of Grand Canyon. From this experience I fell in love with the mountains and canyons of Northern Arizona. Since 2007 my wife Angie (a Registered Nurse), son Leo and I have made the Verde Valley our home.
I worked in the emergency room at Sedona Medical Center and VVMC through 2013. As our son got older, I wanted a more balanced work/life schedule so became a primary care physician with Northern Arizona Healthcare in Cottonwood and Sedona. In 2015, I helped create the Verde Valley Medical Clinic Occupational Medicine office.
As director of this facility, I performed yearly firefighter physicals for local fire departments including Sedona, Verde Valley, Cottonwood, Blue Ridge, and Pine-Strawberry. Knowing the increased health risks firefighters experience, notably cardiovascular disease, cancer, respiratory disease and stress, I've done a deep dive into wellness and disease prevention.
Now I want to bring what I've learned and practiced to my non-fire-fighter patients. I've decided to create a new practice, Helios Health AZ, using a relatively new practice model called Direct Primary Care or DPC. I am convinced that using the DPC model of delivery, and by focusing on wellness and disease prevention, I will be able to help my patients live happier, healthier lives. This core idea is why I went to medical school in the first place.
