Joel Massey, MD

Dr. Joel Massey brings multispecialty certifications in preventive medicine, family medicine, tropical medicine, travel health, HIV medicine, rural medicine, and public health to Hill Country Wellness Journey in New Braunfels.

His path into primary care ran through active duty combat medicine with the Air Force in Afghanistan and missionary medicine practiced across five continents. He also completed an Epidemic Intelligence Service fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, and later served as a regional medical director for the Texas Department of Public Health, overseeing 49 North Texas counties.

Massey stays active in the community as well, leading Walk with a Doc, a walking program built around taking real steps toward a healthier lifestyle.
