Thomas White

Dr. Thomas White is a board-certified family medicine physician at Hometown Direct Care in Shelby, North Carolina, also certified in clinical lipidology. A native of Cherryville, he earned his undergraduate and medical degrees at Duke University and trained in family medicine at Charlotte Memorial Hospital before returning home in 1988 to open Cherryville Primary Care.

In 2015 he launched Hometown Direct Care, the first direct primary care practice in the area, which now serves patients in both Cherryville and Shelby. His peers elected him president of the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians that same year and later named him the state's Family Physician of the Year in 2020, and Cherryville honored him as its 2021 Citizen of the Year.

White is married to Diana. They have two children, Whitney, an RN, and Daniel, a general surgeon, along with three grandchildren, Lawson, Addy, and Grayson.
