About Katie Pencek

Katie Pencek founded Hometown Health, a Direct Primary Care practice in Cockeysville, after seeing how little traditional insurance-driven visits gave her patients.

Ten minute appointments left little room to actually listen, and patients often couldn't get in when they were sick, so they ended up at urgent care paying high fees to see someone they'd never met. Pencek noticed most people wanted to get healthier, not just wait around for something to go wrong, and insurance companies kept dictating how much time she could spend with each patient and how she had to spend it. Frustrated by those limits, she built Hometown Health around the idea that patients deserve real access to their doctor and care built around their goals, not a claims form.
