She knew patients wanted more than a 10 minute visit where the doctor doesn't have time to listen to their concerns. They were frustrated with the inability to see their doctor when they were sick. As a result they would often end up at an urgent care, paying a high fee for a long wait to see someone they've never met.
Dr. Pencek realized that most patients want to optimize their health instead of just waiting for illness to develop. She wanted to offer the best care she could, but was struggling to do this with traditional insurance-driven care. Insurance companies were dictating how much time she could spend with patients and how that time should be spent.
Dr. Pencek founded Hometown Health when she realized patients wanted more from their doctors.
