Katherine Welch, MD

Dr. Katherine Welch is a physician who trained in pediatrics and now leads Imago Dei Restorative Health in Carmel, taking a holistic approach that looks at the biological, psychological, environmental, and spiritual sides of a person's health. She earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric internship and residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

After finishing her residency in 2000, she served in medical missions in Thailand and later in China before building a direct primary care practice centered on time and listening. That model lets her dig into a patient's full history, ask the questions that uncover root causes, and work through the range of options for getting well rather than rushing to one answer.

She sees no question as too strange to ask. Teaching sits at the center of how she practices medicine, something she traces back to the word doctor itself, from the Latin docere, meaning to teach, and she counts her patients among her best teachers in return.
