I didn't dream of being a doctor. I wanted to be a writer or a dolphin trainer, believe it or not. I was born with one leg shorter than the other, requiring frequent medical care and multiple surgeries in childhood, and these experiences surely piqued my interest in medicine.

After a year of post-college volunteer work in Israel, I realized that my inability to handle vomit should not hold me back from a career as a physician. I think that year abroad gave me the confidence I needed to pursue a career in medicine.

The first 18 years of my career were spent as a general pediatrician. During my 13 years as an outpatient pediatrician, I developed an interest in breastfeeding, and earned my certification as a lactation consultant in 2019. I then went on to pursue additional training in Breastfeeding Medicine.
