Thomas Archie, MD

Thomas Archie practices integrative medicine at InnerHealth MD in Ketchum, combining Western allopathic care, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, and functional medicine. Before deciding how to proceed, he weighs the underlying causes of disease, the risks and benefits of a given treatment, and the context of each patient's life.

He earned his medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and trained at the Fort Collins Family Medicine Residency Program in Colorado. There, an early interest in alternative medicine, sparked by reading Andrew Weil, led him to UCLA to study medical acupuncture under Joseph Helms, MD. He later spent two years in a multidisciplinary practice in Fort Collins alongside functional medicine physicians and specialists in chiropractic, massage, and homeopathy, while also covering shifts in rural emergency rooms. During this time he studied functional medicine under Jeffrey Bland and David Jones, and Chinese herbal prescription under master herbalist Anastacia White.

In 2002 he settled in a remote part of northeastern California near Lassen Volcanic National Park.
