Daniel Kohl, DO

Dr. Daniel Kohl is an osteopathic physician at Kohl Direct Family Care PLLC in Edinburg. Raised in Cedarville, Ohio, he first grew interested in medicine on mission trips to Philadelphia, India, Nepal, and Paraguay, trips that showed him needs both physical and spiritual and pulled him toward a life of serving others through medicine.

He studied pre-med at Cedarville University, adding minors in Bible and Spanish, then graduated in 2016 with a degree in molecular and cellular biology. His training continued at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he built skills in osteopathic manipulative treatment before earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020. Residency then brought him and his family to the Rio Grande Valley, at Valley Baptist Family Practice in Harlingen, and along the way he became an enthusiastic member of the Institute for Functional Medicine after completing its foundational training course.

Rushed ten minute visits during residency, most of the time spent typing rather than talking, left him frustrated with what insurance-based care could offer. Watching direct primary care clinics in action convinced him there was a better way, one that let doctors actually focus on their patients, and by the time residency ended he was sure direct primary care was the path he wanted.
