Kevin Ferrell, MSM, PA-C

Kevin Ferrell is a physician assistant and founder of Lawrence Community Care in Lawrence. He built his career on more than 30 years in patient care, starting out as an ER technician and respiratory therapist. He then served as a military flight medic and combat medic.

His path took him through assignments as a helicopter medic and later a Physician Assistant during overseas deployments in Japan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq, Poland and Denmark. After earning his PA degree from Western Michigan University in 2015, he returned to emergency medicine. In 2019, he took on a full-time role as a medical officer with the Michigan National Guard's 51st Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support team, working part-time in emergency medicine at Corewell Health at the same time.

Years in the emergency department showed him how hard the system can be on ordinary patients, with insurers and hospital systems dictating care instead of providers and patients working it out together. That experience led him to open Lawrence Community Care in 2022, offering house calls and telemedicine. He opened a full office downtown in March 2025 with his wife, Rachel, not long after retiring from the Army following 32 years of service.
