Deborah Freeman, FNP

Deborah Freeman is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner at Lower Village Doctor's Office in Kennebunk, Maine. She grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the only child of Edwin and Ruth Bunting, and trained in nursing at the Einstein Medical Center of Philadelphia and at Penn State University.

She worked in intensive care nursing in the city and spent years at a small rural hospital in Bridgton, Maine, learning to do a lot with limited resources and little specialty backup. Time in physician offices followed, and in the 1980s she expanded her training through the University of Maine Nurse Practitioner program to become a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has always preferred direct, one-on-one contact with patients over administrative work.

Freeman is a mother of six, a grandmother of seventeen, and a great-grandmother of four, and calls the Kennebunks home. She worked alongside her husband, Dr. Bud Freeman, sharing a commitment to compassionate, personal, up-to-date care. Now retired, she says she is "still in the wings."
