Thomas Bailey, MD

Dr. Thomas Bailey is a board certified internal medicine physician and the founder of Mahoning Valley Direct Primary Care in Austintown, Ohio.

Bailey completed his pre-med studies at Youngstown State University and went on to medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University, graduating in 1999. Wanting to return to his hometown and care for his own community, he then finished a three-year internal medicine residency at St Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown.

He joined an existing practice in Boardman before opening his own solo practice in Austintown, which he ran from 2004 to 2011. Frustrated by insurance companies interfering with patient care, he moved into hospital medicine, an experience that only sharpened his sense of how broken the system had become. In 2023 he returned to private outpatient practice under the direct primary care model, where he now contracts directly with patients rather than insurers, delivering the personal, timely and affordable care he believes every patient deserves.
