TA Scriven, MD

Terry Ann Scriven, MD sees patients at Max Health Maine Direct Family Practice in Scarborough, with a focus on accessible, affordable care and cost transparency. She trained first in ophthalmology before completing a second residency in family medicine, drawn to the specialty's practical, whole-person approach to care, and sees mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing as connected. Believing patients deserve real understanding and relationship with their physician, she completed medical school at the Mayo Clinic and trained further in New York, Connecticut, Atlanta, and Maine.

Her interests include community and patient advocacy, health ministry, low barrier health care, and care coordination for patients of all ages, including those nearing the end of life.

Married for more than 40 years, she lives on a farm her son started near Portland and loves animals. Her three grown children work in local food sourcing, agriculture, and environmental advocacy, and she enjoys learning about different cultures and family structures.
