Arlene McCain, MD

Dr. Arlene McCain is a family medicine physician at McCain Whole Health Care in Harrisonburg. She earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed her residency at EVMS-Portsmouth Family Medicine, where she served as chief resident from 2009 to 2010.

Her practice grows out of a belief in partnering with patients as they work out their own reasons for change, and in building spaces where real healing, not just symptom management, can take root. She holds a graduate certification in Integrative Therapies and Healing Practices from the University of Minnesota's Center for Spirituality and Healing, and she was among the first health and wellness coaches in the country to earn national board certification. Before medical school, she studied biology and theology at Georgetown University.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. McCain wrote the award-winning book Embrace Grace and co-created the podcasts Physicians, Heal and DPC Rocks, carrying her interest in whole-person wellness into writing and conversation as well as medicine.
