Rafael Huezo, MD

Dr. Rafael Huezo is a family physician and the founding owner of Mint Health Clinics in Bakersfield. He earned his medical degree from the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine in 2010 on a National Health Service Corps scholarship, which brought him to Kern County in 2013 to continue his career.

Leadership has marked his path since he was young, from valedictorian and Eagle Scout to drum major for one of California's top marching bands and president of a major student health organization at UC Riverside. He later earned a Rookie of the Year honor and served as Chief Medical Officer for a large nonprofit health system before opening his own practice, where he focuses on preventive medicine, chronic disease management, urgent care, and geriatrics.

He and his wife, Bakersfield optometrist Dr. Margarita Huezo, are raising two boys, and he enjoys reading, listening to music, and sports in his free time.
