Martin Smith, MD

Martin Smith practices internal medicine at Neighbors Med in Hanahan. He grew up in the small rural community of Santuck, South Carolina, just outside Union, where a competitive streak drove him to standout stints on his high school's basketball and baseball teams. That same drive carried him through Wofford College and on to MUSC, where he completed his training in internal medicine.

After a year with an MUSC internal medicine practice, Smith moved full-time to Harvest Free Medical Clinic in 2013 and now serves as its medical director. He also directs an internal medicine elective there for MUSC medical students on rotation. Colleagues point to his competitive spirit, drive for excellence, and attentiveness to detail as qualities he brings to the team.

Smith and his wife, Laura Lee, are raising four daughters together.
