David Nguyen, MD

David Nguyen is a family medicine physician at Pacific Direct Primary Care in Eugene, Oregon, where he has practiced for nearly ten years.

Born in Florida to a family that had immigrated from Vietnam, he graduated co-valedictorian of his high school class and studied biology and psychology at Duke University. He went on to medical school at the University of Florida, where he found his calling in primary care, then completed a family medicine residency in Asheville, North Carolina, serving as chief resident. Along the way he took part in medical mission trips to Ecuador, India, and Honduras, and worked briefly in urgent care, occupational health, and bariatric medicine before settling into family practice in Eugene.

His care draws on guidelines from the US Preventive Services Task Force, the CDC, and the American Academy of Family Physicians, though he also values the mind-body connection, believes strongly in patient education, and is open to some complementary and alternative approaches. He has volunteered at WhiteBird Clinic and Volunteers in Medicine and served on the Lane County Medical Society's Board of Trustees.

Sustainability and work-life balance matter to him. He and his wife are raising two boys and tending more than 100 hazelnut trees on the family property, and he spends free time hiking and photographing nature.
