Jay Allen, MD

Dr. Jay Allen is board certified in family medicine and practices at Palisade Direct Primary Care in Duluth. He grew up in Le Center, Minnesota, and studied at Wheaton College in Illinois before coming to Duluth for medical school, a move that ended up sticking for good.

Years into traditional practice, Dr. Allen kept seeing patients boxed out of the care they needed by insurance rules, and it pushed him to take a hard look at direct primary care. The more he learned about the model, smaller panels, longer visits, no insurance middleman, the more it looked like a real fix for both the cost of healthcare and the way patients experienced it.

That extra time now goes toward something he genuinely enjoys, walking patients through their own health so they can make informed decisions rather than rushed ones. He considers it an honor to care for his patients and their families.
