Jay Allen, MD

Dr. Jay Allen is Board Certified in Family Medicine. He originally hails from Le Center, MN and completed his undergraduate at Wheaton College in Illinois. When he came to Duluth for medical school, he knew that it would be his long-term home.

Many years ago, Dr. Allen recognized the merits of a healthcare delivery system called Direct Primary Care—a model that promised smaller patient panels, longer visit times, and no constraints by insurance. After years practicing in the traditional healthcare system and witnessing patients unable to access necessary care due to insurance barriers, he reconsidered the DPC model.

The more Dr. Allen researched DPC, the more he recognized it not only as a sustainable way to provide affordable healthcare, but also as a way to mend patient experience through improved access, longer visits, and deeper relationships. He is passionate about teaching patients, something the rushed schedule of traditional healthcare rarely allowed.

With a less constrained schedule at Palisade DPC, Dr. Allen is able to spend more time educating his patients about their health and empowering them to make the most highly informed decisions possible. He is honored to care for patients and their families.
