Kim Howerton, MD

Dr. Kim Howerton is a family physician at Patient Centered Physicians Care PC in Jackson, with more than 15 years in practice. She turned to direct primary care after years of working in a system that left little room for the personal relationship she wanted to have with her patients.

Without insurance dictating how many patients she sees, which medications she prescribes, or how much personal information she has to share, she has time to listen closely, answer questions, and shape care around each patient's specific needs and goals. Patients, not insurance companies, decide the course of their own care. Over the years she has been part of patients' biggest milestones and their hardest moments alike.

She graduated summa cum laude from Christian Brothers University in 1993 and earned her MD from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in 1997. Her training continued at St. Francis Family Medicine Residency Program, where she served as chief resident, followed by a fellowship in Advanced Women's Health.
