Vanessa McDougall, FNP-C

Vanessa McDougall has been caring for patients in Aroostook County since 2010 and opened Phoenix Direct Care in Caribou in 2018.

Her background spans primary care, urgent care, emergency medicine, pain management, and substance use treatment, so she has cared for people at every stage of life. She started out in Van Buren with the National Health Service Corps, and she has since gone on to mentor new Direct Primary Care practices, work built on advocacy, access, and trust. What matters most to her is the kind of relationship that lasts, knowing a patient's history, understanding their family, and making sure they feel seen and heard.

She lives on a family farm with her husband of 28 years, their three children, and their dog Remi. Saturdays usually mean barn chores, Sundays are for family and church, and that same steadiness carries into how she practices.
