Rachel Scheerer, MD

Dr. Rachel Scheerer is a board certified family medicine physician and founder of Pioneer Direct Primary Care in Ormond Beach, Florida. She had always dreamed of being an old-fashioned country doctor, and after trying medicine's traditional business model, she decided it served the business better than the patient. Now she gives each person the time and attention they deserve, listening closely, encouraging hard questions, and coordinating care across specialists. She treats patients as whole people, weighing their health against their life and their budget rather than making assumptions.

Her bachelor's degree came from Eckerd College and her medical degree from the University of South Florida, and she completed her family medicine residency at Halifax Health in Daytona Beach.

Originally from Kauai, Hawaii, Dr. Scheerer moved to Florida in middle school and met her husband, Jake, in high school. They have two children now, and she enjoys beach days and Disney World trips with her family.
