Dr. Vic Wood

Dr. Vic Wood founded Primary Care One in Benwood.

A 1978 graduate of West Liberty State College with a degree in sociology and minors in psychology and history, Wood spent the years right after college in law enforcement, joining the West Virginia State Police Academy in 1979 and serving in Keyser until 1983. Wood qualified as a firearms expert during that stretch and earned several commendations for criminal investigation work.

Medicine came next. Wood entered the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg in August 1983, served as student government president in 1984 and 1985, and completed rotations in West Palm Beach, Largo, Jefferson City, Dayton, and Oklahoma City. A rotating internship at Ohio Valley Medical Center followed from 1987 to 1988, after which Wood was recruited as medical director of Doctors Urgent Care before going on to open Primary Care One.
