Thao Tran, MD

Dr. Thao Tran is a family medicine physician at Radiant Health Direct Primary Care in Vandalia. She immigrated to the United States at age 2, and her path toward medicine began at 15, when her mother was diagnosed with cancer and she spent afternoons at the library translating medical books so her mother could follow her own treatment. That experience shaped years of hospital volunteering and interpreting work.

Valedictorian of Northridge High School, she earned a full-ride scholarship to Wright State University, graduated summa cum laude, and won the full-tuition Boonshoft Scholars Scholarship to Boonshoft School of Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, focusing on underserved health.

A longtime parishioner at Sacred Heart Church, she has taught Vietnamese and Bible classes and mentored students bound for medicine. Now a mother of three, she spends free time with family, painting, playing piano, and caring for animals.
