Amanda Dornfeld, MD, IBCLC

Dr. Amanda Dornfeld, known to patients as Mandy, is a family medicine physician at Sage Direct Care in Columbus. A lifelong Indiana native, she trained at Loyola Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine, completed residency in Muncie, and settled in Columbus afterward, where she spent 13 years in full-spectrum family medicine, delivering babies and caring for patients in both the hospital and the office. In 2020 she and her family spent time in Whitianga, New Zealand, where she worked as a rural GP.

Patients see her for everything from newborn checkups to complex care in older age, and she also runs a busy breastfeeding medicine practice. She was among the first 200 physicians in the country certified by the North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine, and has been a board certified lactation consultant since 2011.

She and her husband David have been married 27 years and raised three kids in the BCSC schools. New Zealand left her with a lasting love of hiking, and she believes strongly in patient autonomy, bringing patients the best evidence and working with them to find what fits their needs and values.
