Justin Altschuler, MD

Dr. Justin Altschuler is a board certified family medicine and addiction medicine physician at Sequoia MD in Sacramento. He studied at Dartmouth College, earned his medical degree through the UC Berkeley-UC San Francisco Joint Medical Program, and completed his internship and residency at the UC Davis Family Medicine Program.

Before opening Sequoia MD, he worked as associate medical director at Cares Community Health, caring for patients facing complicated medical, psychiatric, and substance abuse issues, and he has also treated patients struggling with opiate dependency in private practice. Those direct, insurance-free relationships with patients were a big part of what led him to start Sequoia MD. He also serves as Medical Director for Diabetes Youth Families, an organization devoted to the quality of life of children, teens, and families affected by diabetes, work shaped by his own more than twenty years living with type 1 diabetes.

Most of his free time goes to the garden or to his family.
