Colleen Pacem is a family nurse practitioner with two decades of experience at Serene Primary Care in Bellevue. Her approach rests on one idea, that health improves when a patient feels truly heard and supported. Years of practice have shown her that real healing happens when someone walks alongside a patient rather than simply treating them.
A bike accident on her commute home in 2017 reshaped her thinking. Getting hit from behind gave her a firsthand look at the lifestyle medicine principles she had already been advocating for years. Her own recovery taught her that social connection, good nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management form the foundation that allows the body to heal.
That experience reinforced her belief that the body holds its own wisdom, and that daily choices either support recovery or get in its way. It's what led her to move from an insurance-based practice into direct patient care.
