About Eva Houghton

Southwest Modern Medicine's Eva Houghton is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who has cared for patients in Albuquerque for more than 15 years.

A native New Mexican, Eva started her nursing career in Denver after earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regis University, then came home to complete her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of New Mexico as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Opening Southwest Modern Medicine grew out of both her professional interests and her own experience as a patient. She first learned about Direct Primary Care when a close friend opened a DPC practice in Texas, and later turned to DPC herself after struggling to get timely care in Albuquerque. That experience showed her how effective and personal this model of medicine could be, and now it shapes how she practices, with an emphasis on strong relationships, quick access, and care built around the individual.

Eva belongs to the New Mexico Nurse Practitioner Council and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
