My interest in medicine started in high school. I watched my parents care for our grandparents. I watched my mom undergo emergency surgery. And I watched my friends experience the loss of parents. Each individual, no matter the generation or age, is affected by a family member's illness. I knew at that time that I wanted to provide support for fellow kids, parents, and grandparents through their medical experiences.
Family medicine provides an amazing opportunity to do just that. Families are so dynamic. We grow and gain new members, we experience hardships and triumphs, and sometimes we lose those we care about. Getting to be a part of each family and each individual's story is something that I cherish and honor.
My goal is to always be your personal guide through the healthcare system and in your health care journey as well as provide high-quality, evidence-based medicine that is geared to you and your personal health and life goals. I value patient education (which I believe empowers patients), relationship building, and thorough, quality care.
It has become harder and harder to reach these goals in an insurance-accepting practice. Physician reimbursement is tied to quantity instead of quality, which despite our best efforts, makes it difficult for doctors to provide affordable, relationship-focused care. To return the human connection to healthcare, I launched Sparrow Family Medicine, a direct primary care family medicine practice in 2022.
