Dr. Robert Rakowczyk (rah-COVE-chik) is a Board-Certified Family Medicine physician. Originally from Las Cruces, New Mexico, "Dr. Rob" attended New Mexico State University earning undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Philosophy before serving in the US Navy for seven years as a nuclear-trained Submarine Officer.
After his military service, Dr. Rob began his medical career by earning his medical degree at The Ohio State University, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He then completed a 3-year residency in Family Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston (UTMB). He was honored with the Jean Thompson Award for Most Compassionate Resident upon graduation.
Dr. Rob has a special interest in integrative medicine and what might be categorized as "mind-body medicine." During his residency, he completed the Integrative Medicine in Residency program developed by the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. He also underwent additional training in clinical hypnosis through the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis, as well as training in Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program.
Dr. Rob is known for his gentle and open nature, listening deeply to patients' concerns and questions, and giving thoughtful and educated care and advice. He is married to his college sweetheart, Amy, and is the proud father of three amazing daughters.
