John Murphy, DO

Dr. John Murphy is a board-certified family and osteopathic manipulative medicine physician at Sugarcreek Direct Family Care in Spring Valley. He grew up nearby in Sugarcreek Township, attending Bellbrook-Sugarcreek schools, then earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005 and completed his family medicine residency at Grandview Hospital in Dayton three years later. He also holds a certificate to recommend medical cannabis.

For his first eleven years out of residency, he practiced alongside his father and several other physicians at Bellbrook Family Practice, an experience that gave him the grounding to strike out on his own. He saw his first patient at Sugarcreek Direct Family Care in March 2020 and formally opened the practice, which he calls the Farm, that September.

He lives in Sugarcreek Township within walking distance of the Farm, raising three daughters and keeping busy with hiking, camping, gardening, and the family's dog Lucky.
