Clifford Porter, MD, PhD

Dr. Clifford Porter is a board certified family medicine physician and the founder and managing partner of Texas Direct Medical Care in Austin, Texas.

Before opening his own practice, he served as medical director for several urgent care clinics across Travis County, building years of experience in personal, hands on medical care. His path to Austin ran through Fort Hood, where he worked as an Army physician practicing full service family medicine for active duty soldiers, their families, and retirees, covering everything from primary care and hospital admissions to emergency medicine, intensive care, and obstetrics.

Dr. Porter is a retired Army Colonel who served with the 1st Armored Division and deployed to Iraq in 2011. He later served in the Army Reserve and the Texas Army National Guard as senior flight physician for the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade.
