Dr. John Italiano is a board-certified family medicine physician and founder of Thrive Family Health Direct Primary Care, a patient-centered practice dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care that helps individuals and families live full, healthy, and meaningful lives. Rooted in the osteopathic philosophy of treating the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—Dr. John believes true health is more than the absence of disease. It's about helping those in his community thrive through prevention, lifestyle, and connection. By removing barriers of traditional insurance-based care, he offers direct access, longer visits, and a deeper partnership built on trust and understanding.
Dr. John was born and raised in Macomb, MI before completing his bachelor degree in Chemistry at Michigan State University (MSU), graduating at the top of his class with a cumulative 4.0 GPA. He then completed medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) and residency training in family medicine at Trinity Health Muskegon. His clinical interests include preventive medicine, lifestyle optimization, musculoskeletal health, mental well-being, and faith-based wellness. He is also board-certified in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT)—a hands-on approach that supports the body's natural ability to heal.
Patients describe Dr. John as approachable, genuine, and deeply empathetic. He takes time to listen, educate, and empower each person he serves—offering care that's as relational as it is evidence-based. When not in the clinic, Dr. John enjoys spending time with his wife, exploring the outdoors, staying active, and cheering on his MSU Spartans. His life and practice are guided by his faith and a mission to love his community.
