Robert Bonacci, MD

Robert Bonacci is a family medicine physician at Trailhead Clinics Montrose. Originally from New Jersey, he trained through Emory's Physician Assistant Program and Morehouse School of Medicine, then completed his Family Medicine residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he served as chief resident.

He spent the next 21 years at Mayo Clinic as a Family Medicine consultant, leading the Family Medicine Residency through a major overhaul from 2010 to 2019 and later rebuilding Mayo's primary care practices in Albert Lea and Austin. Bonacci believes in treating the root cause of disease, looking at how patients eat, move, sleep, manage stress, and stay connected.

He and his wife, Kerrie, are looking forward to putting down roots in the Montrose community and exploring its outdoor opportunities, no more winter hibernation. Their daughter Ellen heads off to college this summer.
