Laura Slings, MD

Dr. Laura Slings is a family medicine physician at True North Direct Primary Care in White Bear Lake. She was drawn to the specialty by the long-term relationships it builds with patients, from delivering babies to counseling families through end-of-life decisions and everything in between.

Years in practice have shown her how hard it is to fit any patient into a box. She believes every person carries innate value and dignity, and she works to give patients a safe space to be heard, supported, and guided through their health decisions.

Listening matters most to Slings. It helps patients feel known, cuts down on unnecessary testing, and shapes treatment plans built around what each patient actually wants. After twenty years in a large fee-for-service system, she found that giving patients the time that kind of listening takes had become nearly impossible, and her philosophy of care no longer matched the reality of how she was able to practice.
