Monte Uyemura, MD

Dr. Monte Uyemura is a board certified family physician at Uyemura Family Medicine, PLLC in Wray, where he has practiced since 1996. He graduated from Northwestern University Medical School in 1989, then trained through the Army, interning at Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia, and completing his family medicine residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington. He went on to serve four years as a family physician at Fort Riley, Kansas, and was honorably discharged in 1996 as a major.

In 2007 he brought a healthcare reform proposal before the Colorado Blue Ribbon Commission, and its final recommendations left him disappointed. That frustration helped push him to open his direct primary care practice as a way to serve his community more directly. He values listening closely to his patients, weighing each case on its own terms, sometimes favoring comfort over intervention and other times careful medication management.
