About Victoria Leventis-Shew

Dr. Victoria Leventis-Shew is Board Certified in Family Practice and Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy and has been providing primary care and occupational health services to the Columbia community since 2010.

As the proud daughter of a Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, she grew up all over the United States (and beyond).

Her parents – who are both native South Carolinians – moved back to South Carolina after her father retired from the Army in 1991, and she graduated from Wade Hampton High School in Greenville in 1995.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia in 1999 (Gooo Dawgs!).

She knew she wanted to become a physician during her junior year at the University of Georgia.

She did a practicum in Hippotherapy, which helps patients both physically and mentally through the use of horseback riding.

By witnessing the amazing improvements in patients' health through the use of hippotherapy, she felt a calling to shift from Pre-Vet to Pre-Med.

She is a huge advocate for adjunct therapies, such as hippotherapy, acupuncture, osteopathic manipulative treatments, and aquatic therapy.

Dr. Leventis-Shew attended Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky.

She completed a pre-doctoral Fellowship in Osteopathic Principles and Practice between her second and third years of medical school, during which time she helped teach the first and second-year medical students the Osteopathic Principles and Practice course.

She completed her third and fourth-year medical school clinical rotations in South Carolina in the Myrtle Beach and Columbia areas.

She completed the Family Medicine Residency Program in Columbus Georgia in 2010, after which she moved back to South Carolina and has practiced in Columbia since that time.
